What changes mechanically<\/h2>\n

Viscosity, additive chemistry, temperature, speed and method of retention all influence the contact. Polymer wheels require an explicit compatibility check rather than assuming the same lubricant used for a bronze wheel is acceptable.<\/p>\n

Small worm gearing is sensitive to the relationship between the two members. Module or nominal size is only one coordinate. The mating definition also includes starts, hand, ratio, center distance, tooth system, material pairing and the way both components are located by bearings or hubs.<\/p>\n

How to select or specify it<\/h2>\n

For small enclosed mechanisms, consider how the lubricant reaches the mesh after long idle periods and whether it can migrate away from the contact zone.<\/p>\n

For a useful technical review, add the operating conditions: input speed, expected output torque, duty cycle, reversing frequency, ambient temperature and lubrication method. These inputs help separate a geometry question from a material, wear or thermal question.<\/p>\n

What to verify before release<\/h2>\n

Provide lubricant restrictions in the RFQ. If the application requires dry running, state that as a design condition rather than omitting lubrication data.<\/p>\n
