What changes mechanically<\/h2>\n

Material properties, lubricant viscosity and backlash can change with temperature. Polymer wheels deserve particular attention because stiffness and dimensions are temperature dependent.<\/p>\n

Small worm gearing is sensitive to the relationship between the two members. Module or nominal size is only one coordinate. The mating definition also includes starts, hand, ratio, center distance, tooth system, material pairing and the way both components are located by bearings or hubs.<\/p>\n

How to select or specify it<\/h2>\n

Share ambient temperature, duty cycle, input speed and expected load. If the mechanism is enclosed near a heat source, include that condition.<\/p>\n

For a useful technical review, add the operating conditions: input speed, expected output torque, duty cycle, reversing frequency, ambient temperature and lubrication method. These inputs help separate a geometry question from a material, wear or thermal question.<\/p>\n

What to verify before release<\/h2>\n

Thermal review should consider the complete assembly: motor losses, bearings, seals, gear mesh and housing conduction all contribute.<\/p>\n
